Now Available: Workforce Report Completed September 2007 by The Pathfinders
Highlights of the completed report include:
- The 11-county Indianapolis area, referred to as the "labor shed", has a household population of approximately 1,991,900 and a civilian labor force of approximately 1,112,100.
- In total, the Indianapolis area has 121,000 readily available workers for new or expanding businesses.
- Available workers in the Indianapolis area have much greater experience in manufacturing, call centers, warehouse and distribution, and customer service than other metro areas studied with over one million residents.
- 72% of employers rated their workers' productivity as "good" or "excellent."
- 71% of employers rated the availability of professional workers as "good" or "excellent."
- Underemployed* workers in the Indianapolis region require up to 27% lower wages to change jobs than in other metropolitan areas studied with more than one million residents.
