After realizing that too many students who are talented in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are not succeeding or being challenged in today’s traditional education system, Purdue University designed a goal to successfully prepare students for college and careers while providing skills necessary for an evolving workforce.
Mitch Daniels, the Purdue University President said, "Recognizing that far too few urban Indianapolis high school graduates are academically prepared for the rigors of postsecondary education in scientific and technological disciplines, Purdue is leading in the creation of the Purdue Polytechnic Indianapolis High School."
